Easter Ham

Easter Ham

In this simple recipe, salty, smoked ham is paired with sweet mango and onion. The fruit and vegetables are cooked alongside the ham in the covered roasting pan, leaving them meltingly tender.

To ensure even cooking, leave the ham out at room temperature for an hour before baking.

Wine of the Month

Cline Wine Label
This Ancient Vines Zinfandel shows wonderful dusty raspberry, blackberry, white pepper and spice, with coffee and chocolate characters. Aging in new and used wood has lent this wine a subtle vanilla quality that nicely complements the explosive fruit notes.

Bizarre & Unique Holidays
Dear Friends of Bizaare

Last one ready is a rotten egg!

Let's be honest: Hosting a holiday gathering can be stressful. We all have memories of scurrying around at the last minute, throwing things in closets, and then being stranded in the kitchen while everyone else relaxes and chats in the next room. There's got to be an easier way, right?

There is. Doing most of the cooking ahead can make all the difference, leaving you cool, calm, and collected when mealtime arrives. With that in mind, we've created a seasonal ham for which most of the preparation can be done in advance: A festive lunch featuring an easy glazed ham with tender onion and mango.  And for dessert why not try our Strawberry & Rhubarb Semifreddo, you can make the semifreddo up to three days ahead: Keep it wrapped in the freezer until you're ready to serve it.
Whichever you choose, get ready to lose the angst and experience a new kind of - relaxed - Easter celebration.

National Red Hat Lady Day

 April 25th

They're everywhere. They're colorful. And many of us don't know what exactly they do. Women in purple and red, taking to heart lines from Jenny Joseph's poem, "When I am an old woman I shall wear purple / With a red hat which doesn't go and doesn't suit me," and traveling in droves throughout the community.

We here at Bizaare would like to acknowledge our neighboring Chapters of this society who often luncheon with us and thank them all for their custom.

The Red Hat Society is a social organization where there is fun after fifty (and before) for women of all walks of life.  Click here to find a chapter near you.

Question of the Month :
What is a Sommelier?

A Sommelier (suh-mel-YAY) is a restaurant's wine steward, in charge of selecting, ordering, and caring for the wine.  The sommelier must be knowledgeable about the vintages and grape varieties used in every wine on the list, and must know how to pair those wines with items on the menu.  Sommelier certification is also helpful for those working in the retail wine business.  The certification has several levels and the highest is known as a Master Sommelier.  This certification is very thorough and takes years to achieve.

And last but not least, CONGRATULATIONS to last months random drawing winner Robert Missle.  Robert will receive a dinner for two at Bistro Bizaare.  All those who receive and open our emails are automatically entered into our monthly drawing.

Have a safe and healthy month.

Warmly,
